The Almost Giants

Tonight, the Giants once again almost pulled off a convincing win, but ended up losing in the final minute of the 4th quarter. I really do feel bad for all the Giants fans out there because going in to half time they must have been on top of the world. “This is our year!” they thought, “Brady can’t beat us” they screamed, but yet again, their magic fizzled out as the game went on. Daniel Jones has been looking incredible and embarrassing almost at the same time, and I think that can be encapsulated with the trip at the end of last weeks 80 yard run.

Even with their struggles, I really do think the Giants get a bad rap. They are not as bad as everyone think’s and I don’t know why they are seen as such a terrible team. Yeah, they make A LOT of mistakes, but that doesn’t mean they are incapable of competing with any team. Honestly, I think in 2021 the giants will be a much better team, and will probably clinch their division. Right now the NFC East is wide open and I suspect it will be for a few more years.

With Saquon coming back and the Giants in position to have a top 3 draft pick, this could be a completely different team offensively next year, and If they can snag their hands on Ja’Marr Chase, this WR core could be extremely dangerous. As far as cap space goes, the Giants wont have much to work with but should fair well either way. Of course things can only get better if Jones does as well, and right now that’s a 50/50 shot. In order to be truly competitive in this league you must be able to perform under pressure, and this is where Daniel has been shining and shrinking. He forces too many passes and causes turnovers in critical moments, but will also break free for an 80 yard run when there are no options left. Its perplexing

If Joe Judge and Jason Garret can help Jones mature then I think this team has a future, but if they can’t, it might be time to look for another QB. There might not be that many options open in this off season but maybe they can get a veteran like Ryan Fitzpatrick, who can be a great (and I hate saying this) place holder until they find the man who can take them to the next level.

Whatever they do, I’m sure Giants fans, much like the rest of us, will have a much better time in 2021
