The Pittsburgh Steelers are statistically having the best year in their franchise history. They are currently 8-0 and can potentially go 16-0 this year. That would make them the number one seed going into the playoffs. Yet, I wouldn’t have the Steelers in my top 5 teams in the NFL. They do find great ways to win games, both offensively and defensively. However, they have come too close to losing games against some of the worst teams in the NFL. Five out of the eight wins were within one possession with a large part coming down to the last minute of the game. This includes their wins against the Tennessee Titans, who missed a field goal to tie the game after a dramatic 4th quarter comeback, and the Dallas Cowboys (currently 2-7), who led most of the game until late in the 4th quarter.
The only real threat the Steelers have faced so far are the Ravens, who in my opinion beat themselves up rather than the Steelers beating them, and The Titans, who like I mentioned above were one kick away from overtime. The Steelers face three worthy opponents in the next eight weeks: the Bills, Colts and the Ravens. Even if they lose all three games, they will have a 13-3 record and be in the playoffs, but will more than likely lose home field advantage and a bye. Unfortunately, as good as they will look going
into the playoffs, they will not be lucky enough to get to Super bowl 55. The Bills, Chiefs, Titans, Ravens, and Dolphins are all potential playoff teams and all are worthy of keeping the Steelers from going to Tampa Bay in February.
