NFL Week 14 picks

By: Tom Matthews

*Confidence scale picked for each game is from 1-10*

Patriots @ Rams (-4.5)

This will be a low scoring game since both defenses will make the other team turn the ball over. The last time these two teams met was in the super bowl and the game ended 13-3 with the Patriots getting their 6th Super Bowl victory. The teams and a few key players have changed since then and this time the outcome might be a little different.

Rams win but will not cover the spread.

Win Confidence (7)

Spread Confidence (5)

Broncos @ Panthers (-3.5)

The broncs Put up a good fight against the Chiefs last week and will try to do the same this week. Unfortunately, it will not be enough to make the Panthers lose at home. The Panther’s explosive offense will get an early lead and hang on to it. They will be well-rested and more prepared off the bye.

Panthers win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (8)

Spread Confidence (7)

Texans @ Bears (+1)

The Texans put up a good fight against the Colts last week until they fumbled the ball on 2nd and goal with less than 1.5 minutes to go and 6 points down. Bears’ atrocious offense will struggle against the Texans’ improving defense and the Offence will play well enough to have more on the scoreboard.

Texans win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (9)

Cowboys @ Bengals (+3.5)

The Bengals have been putting up a couple of nice fights to give the fans some hope but have come up empty at the end of the game. Dallas has done nothing but the same. Although the Cowboys’ defense is horrible, the offense will help make up for it and get a W against another team with a similar horrible record.

Cowboys win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (8)

Spread Confidence (7)

Titans @ Jaguars (+7.5)

After a horrible start against the Browns last week, the Titans fought their way back into a 1 possession game. Which still made them go home empty-handed. Mike Glennon did a great job last week fighting against the Vikings until he turned the ball over in overtime giving the Vikings a chance to kick the game-winning field goal. He will once again put up the same fight but the Titans will put up an even bigger fight since they have more to lose from each game moving forward.

Titans win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (6)

Chiefs @ Dolphins (+7)

This is a very interesting game. The Chiefs have been defeated once this season and already got revenge. The dolphins look like they play a crappy game until the final score suggests otherwise. Dolphins will have another well-balanced game but Mahomes might be too explosive for the Dolphins’ defense to stop him. However, Chiefs often cut it too close in games and the same will probably happen this week.

Chiefs win but will not cover the spread

Win Confidence (8)

Spread Confidence (6)

Cardinals @ Giants (+1.5)

Cardinals have lost 4 of their last 5 games while the Giants have won 4 of their last 5. If Giants play the same level of football they did against the Seahawks last week, then they will continue to be #1 in their division while the Cardinals will be on the outside looking in for the play-offs. Joe Judge has done a fantastic job with the Giants organization and will continue to do that through the season.

Giants win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (7)

Spread Confidence (6)

Vikings @ Buccaneers (-6.5)

The Buccaneers have been very inconsistent this year. The Vikings have barely pulled off games that could have gone either way including last week against the Jaguars. Buccaneers have one of the best run defenses and they will help shut down Dalvin cook. As long as the Buccaneers’ offense balance running the ball and hitting short passes without turning the ball over. They will do fine. Buccs are off a bye and Brady has a fantastic winning record off a bye.

Buccaneers win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (6)

Colts @ Raiders (+3)

If it wasn’t for a terrible blitz call from the Jets for the last play of the game last week, the Raiders would be sitting at 2 straight losses to teams without a winning record. The Colts have done a good enough job both defensively and offensively to win games. They will do that again this game.

Colts win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (7)

Spread Confidence (7)

Jets @ Seahawks (-13)

It looks like the Jets are learning the Falcons playbook on finding different ways to lose football games. Still can’t believe the play call last week. At this point, the Jets should just stay winless and get the first round draft pick. The Seahawks on the other hand took an embarrassing loss to the Giants last week which will hurt the Jets chances of winning even more. Wilson and company will come out strong and defeat the Jets bad in response to their last game.

Seahawks win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (8)

Packers @ Lions (+7.5)

Aaron Rodgers has been playing outstanding the last few weeks and making a case to why he should be the MVP this year. He will continue to make that case this week. Last time these two teams played, the Packers won by more than 3 touchdowns. Packers since have only gotten better while the Lions stayed pretty inconsistent. The only great thing going for the Lions is that, Matt Patricia is no longer there. Lions will put up a good fight but will come out empty handed.

Packers win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (7)

Falcons @ Chargers (+2.5)

Said this last week and I’ll say it again. The chargers are not good!! The only good thing they have is Justin Herbert. The Falcons are also bad, but not as bad as the Chargers. There really isn’t much to say about this game other than those facts.

Falcons win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (8)

Saints @ Eagles (+6.5)

The Saints are arguably the best team in the NFL this season. The Eagles are too inconsistent and has too many flaws. Jaylen Hurts will make a few plays here and there but the Saints are just too good for the eagles to beat.

Saints win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (9)

Spread Confidence (8)

Washington Football Team @ 49ers (-3)

After a close loss to the Giants and the Lions, Washington has won 3 straight games including beating the undefeated Steelers. The 49ers have been very inconsistent throughout this season and went 1-4 in their last 5 games. Alex smith and Antonio Gibson has been doing great things and will continue to do so this week. Washington also, have a very good defensive line that often don’t get enough credit.

Washington win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (8)

Spread Confidence (7)

Steelers @ Bills (-2)

Steelers have been cutting it too close with teams this entire season and it finally caught up to them last week when Washington came back from 14-0 down and beat them. They will leave Buffalo this week with an 11-2 record. Bills have been looking better and better each week and they will earn more respect from NFL critics after this week.

Bills win and cover the spread

Win Confidence (7)

Spread Confidence (6)

Ravens @ Browns (+1.5)

The Browns went 4-0 after their bye in week 9. Ravens on the other hand went 2-4 after their bye in week 7. However, besides the Titans, 3 of the 4 wins Browns had in the last four weeks came against teams with a losing record while Ravens had players out due to Covid. Both teams will put up a good fight but Ravens will end up on top.

Ravens win and cover the spread
